My name is Christina Webb and I walk the lakebed, simetomes on foot and simetomes on horse back. The last time I went out into the lakebed on my horse (buena vista entrance) the erosion was so bad my horse was afraid to cross the path which used to be a flat connected trail but has now become a big scary gorge to him. Trying to get both of my horses to cross a simple path became time consuming and scary for all involved. While trying to coax him around an easier path, my horse fell into a sink hole and sliced his leg open. I now find myself avoiding the lakebed and don't take him to the arena anymore because of the chance of him (or I) getting hurt in the process. It's rediculous to trailer him there because of how close we are (buena vista and highland). I walked the lakebed today, taking pictures and was appalled at how much worse its gotten so quikly. Not only has the erosion problem gotten worse it's gotten 10 times worse!! I cannot believe it has gotten that bad and can't imagine what it will be like after this winter. I saw pieces of concrete in some places and what looked like a possible attempt to add dirt by the storm drain but I'm wondering if anyone else has addressed this problem? Is anything being done or even talked about at this point? I took a ton of pictures today of all the problem areas, is there anywhere I can send them or show for maybe something to be done? Please let me know what I can do, or what is in the process of being done about this issue. As of now I will no longer be taking my horses on the lakebed as it is not safe for either of us. I was lucky my horse didn't panic when he fell into that sink hole or who knows how much worse our injuries would have been. Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Melody:
I don't know of any trail maps but there is an overhead picture of the lakebed in the gallery. I would suggest you walk in an easterly direction just north of Mariposa on Lakeview. This trail goes around the entire rim of the lakebed. I just added a picture of the trailhead to the gallery.

Sharon:

It's not really a park, It is a county flood control basin. There is a nice trail head about 200 yards east of the intersection of Lakeview Avenue and Buena Vista in Yorba Linda.
